The Science-Education-Experience Conference was held in Kazimierz on the Vistula from 20th to 21rst of May 2013. The conference concluded the series of consultations about the required competences of the graduates of the first degree computer science study. The conference was attended by both the representatives of the IT companies in Lublin region and the academic teachers. The academic teachers had prepared new teaching programs which would also be carried out.

On the first day of the conference there were series of speeches concerning the required graduates competences. They were presented by the representatives of the IT companies. The requirements applied to the constantly changing IT technology (e.g. mobile programming, cloud computing, variety and convergence technology with the needs of exploitation and development of traditional technologies). The main conclusion of the first day was the statement that IT industry would need the employees with the deep basic knowledge and the ability to learn. It was reminded that the main goal of the computer science is software production. It is the main aspect that should be emphasised during the study. During the academic program various skills should be developed, such as: algorithmic thinking, designing techniques, software production and the processes of software engineering (requirement acquisition and documentation, testing and leading projects). It was also said that the student trainings and practices are very important parts of their education. They should be long-lasting and adapted to the educational program. It was recommended that students should take the responsibility for their actions.

The second day of the conference was entirely devoted to the presentation of discussion panels results, teaching effects and the content of the new subjects. During the heated discussion several slight changes in the respective subjects were done. It was emphasized that the new subjects are attractive and they should be included in the educational program.
