On January 22, 2026, a meeting was held at the Department of Computer Science, the highlight of which was the appreciation extended by the department’s leadership and staff to our colleague Elżbieta Miłosz. Ela retired from her position at the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology. Over 35 years of research and teaching at the Lublin University of Technology were initially devoted to the Faculty of Management, and the last decade to our department. Everything comes to an end. There were well wishes, flowers, a painting as a memento of our shared work, cookies with coffee and tea and, of course, applause from the entire team. Many recently hired employees are also students of Ela.
Dr inż. Elżbieta Miłosz worked at the department I manage. She proved to be a wonderful educator, constantly expanding her horizons, a kind colleague eager to help anyone who needed support. I deeply respected her for her commitment to serving as project manager for the „3D Digital Silk Road” project and for her admirable persistence in completing subsequent tasks despite the pandemic. This extraordinary project, carried out largely in Uzbekistan —a country several thousand kilometers away from Poland — among people she met only during the course of her subsequent challenges. They came from different cultures and religions, and were unfamiliar with Polish and European realities. I admired her skillful networking, from professors, directors and assistants to ordinary university and museum staff. A tangible result of all these organisational efforts is the content of the silkroad3d.com portal, which she oversaw, and which proved its impact in the previous and current evaluations of the Information Technology and Telecommunications discipline. The portal is enjoying considerable popularity, as evidenced by nearly 1.2 million visits and over 150,000 users from 172 countries.
Thank you, Ela
