On 8-9.01.2021 the web-conference “The Silk Road – Cultural Heritage of Asia and Europe” was held. The conference was carried out remotely. The organizers of the conference were employees of the Department of Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology: project manager: Dr. Elżbieta Miłosz, Prof. Marek Miłosz, Prof. Jerzy Montusiewicz and coordinators of partner universities from Uzbekistan: Prof. Dilbar Mukhamedova from the National University of Uzbekistan, Prof. Utkir Abdullajev from Urgench State University, Prof. Bakhodir Eshchanov from Chirchik State Pedagogical Institute and Rakhim Kayumov from Samarkand State University.
Over 40 employees of universities and museums of Uzbekistan and Poland participated in the conference. The aim of the conference was to present the cultural heritage of the Silk Road in Asia and Europe as well as activities related to its protection and promotion. The results of the cooperation between the Lublin University of Technology and universities – partners from Uzbekistan in the protection of the cultural heritage of the Silk Road and plans for further cooperation under the 3D Digital Silk Road project were also shown.
The conference was opened by: Vice-Rector of the Lublin University of Technology, Prof. Dariusz Czerwiński, Rector of Chirchik State Pedagogical Institute Prof. Gafurdjan Mukhamedov and Vice-Rector of Samankand State University Dr. Muhtor Nasirov.
As part of the conference, 25 papers were delivered in English or Russian. The activity of the 3D Laboratory of the Department of Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology in the field of the possibility of using information technologies in museology was presented. At the end of the conference, Prof. Róża Czabak-Garbacz realized a virtual guided tour of Lublin.
