Institute of Computer Science, Lublin University of Technology, has obtained new equipment. Two modern eye trackers: SMI Eye Tracking Glasses 2.0 and remote Tobii TX300 were purchased by Institute within the project called Central Laboratory of Implementation in LUT (Centralne Laboratorium Wdrozen Politechniki Lubelskiej), co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under Operational Programme Development of Eastern Poland 2007-2013.
An eye tracker is a device for measuring eye positions and eye movement, that provides data for comprehensive gaze analysis and visualization. The eye trackers will be part of formed Laboratory for 3D Motion Analysis. Apart from eye trackers, the laboratory will include the ultra-modern plant for Motion Capture.
At the same time staff from the Institute of Computer Science actively prepares for future laboratory work. Lately, Magdalena Borys did an internship for usability testing and participated in one-week training session about in LIG experimental platform, Grenoble Informatics Laboratory, Grenoble, France.
Software Engineering Research Group from Institute conducted the research on the usability of interfaces using expert methods and usability test with users. Now, Institute can offer ICT and other domain companies new services such as:
- analysis of eye movements for medical diagnosis;
- testing the usability and accessibility of computer application interfaces (desktop, web and mobile);
- adjusting interface for people with disabilities;
- optimizing application interfaces ergonomics to enhance user productivity;
- analysis of navigation and control panels ergonomics;
- analysis of risks for drivers and pilots associated with information overload and stress threats to drivers and pilots associated with information overload and stress;
- research on the visibility of road signs and information;
- advertising testing;
and many others.
