Textiles in artifacts 2026

The 9th International Conservation Conference “Textiles in Artifacts. Research – Conservation – Innovation” (https://plc.umk.pl/pages/sesja_posterowa/?langu=en) took place in Toruń on April 15–17, 2026. The conference was organized by the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Department of Conservation and Restoration of Paper and Leather, Faculty of Fine Arts) and the Polish Institute of World Art Studies. It is one of the most prestigious meetings of scientists and practitioners in the field of conservation in the world, held every two years. The conference took place in the university’s largest auditorium at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Over 270 scientists and conservationists from 12 countries on 4 continents participated in the conference. 46 oral presentations and 27 posters were presented in 12 sessions.

Faculty members from the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering participated in the conference: Prof. Dr.  Jerzy Montusiewicz; Prof. Dr. Marek Miłosz; and Dr. Eng. Jacek Kęsik, who prepared three presentations promoting the scientific and research achievements of the Department of Computer Science:

  • Two papers were presented in the session entitled “Digitization, Documentation, and Sharing of Collections”:
    • 3D Scanning and Digital Dissemination of the Bukhara Emir’s Ceremonial Costume: a Case Study (Marek Miłosz, Jerzy Montusiewicz, Jacek Kęsik, Kamil Żyła, Rahim Kayumov),
    • Creating a 3D Digital Exhibition of Uzbek Tubiteykas (Jerzy Montusiewicz, Marek Miłosz, Jacek Kęsik, Aziz Mullaev, Stanisław Skulimowski, Rahim Kayumov)
  • in the poster session:
    • From Sacrum to Digital: Current Technologies and Workflow Solutions in the Digitization of Liturgical Vestments (Jacek Kęsik, Jerzy Montusiewicz, Marek Miłosz, Agnieszka Bender, Marcin Barszcz, Marcin Badurowicz)

During the presentations, the 3D Digital Silk Road portal (silkroad3d.com) and the “3D Lab” were presented and advertised.
