Quality testing of the T1DCoach application interface has been completed

On December 19, 2023, research was completed on the interface of the T1DCoach application (popular name GABI, from the name of the digital twin and avatar of a child with type 1 diabetes) developed by a team of employees of the Department of Computer Science as part of the project “Supporting education in type 1 diabetes in adolescents – T1DCoach mobile application ” financed by NCBiR as part of the “Things are for people” competition. The work was carried out in the Laboratory of Movement Analysis and Ergonomics of Interfaces (LARiEI) at the Department of Computer Science.

The research was conducted on a research group consisting of 10 adolescent patients with type 1 diabetes, 10 their guardians (parents) and 10 type 1 diabetes educators. The research group was selected, organized and “delivered” by the Circle of Help for Children and Youth with Diabetes, Society of Friends of Children, Lublin Regional Branch. The process was coordinated by Ms. Ewelina Gdela, chairman of the Circle.

The following research techniques, very well mastered at LARiEI, were used in the research:

  • eye tracking (using a mobile eye tracker),
  • thinking aloud (with audio and manual recording),
  • SUS survey (paper),
  • focus group interview.

The obtained research results, after processing, will be used to further improve the user interface of the T1DCoach application.
