Study and training visit to Uzbekistan

On September 10-17, 2021, a group of five employees of the Department of Computer Science visited Tashkent and Samarkand (Uzbekistan). The trip was related to the realization of the project “Mobile Application Development – Joint Master Studies in English” – MAD-MSE (PPI / KAT / 2019/1/00005), financed by NAWA under the KATAMARAN program. A meeting with the Vice-Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan (NUU, project partner), prof. Raima Shirinova took place during the stay. At the meeting, the problems of starting the recruitment for the joint Master’s studies developed under the project and the prospects for further cooperation in the field of education and science were discussed.

There was also a meeting with potential candidates for students of joint studies. The following presentations were presented during the meeting:

  • MAD-MSE project and its results: joint study program (Dr. Marek Miłosz, prof. University professor),
  • University of Technology and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Dr. Edyta Łukasik, Vice-Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for student affairs),
  • Poland and the city of Lublin from the students’ point of view (Dr. Maria Skublewska-Paszkowska),
  • selected problems of studying by foreigners in Poland and at the Lublin University of Technology (MSc Monika Kaczorowska).

There was also a working meeting with lecturers from NUU involved in the project implementation.

The employees of the University of Technology underwent training (mostly practical) in the area of ​​Uzbekistan’s culture, highlighting the differences in relation to Poland. Employees were acquainted with the customs of Uzbekistan’s universities, the organization of the academic year, material and non-material culture of Uzbekistan and its heritage. The role of the trainer in the training was performed by Prof. Dilbar Mukhamedowa of the National University of Uzbekistan.

As part of the training, the University of Technology employees visited the most recognized city in Uzbekistan – Samarkand.
