As part of the Open Day held on April 1, 2026, at Lublin University of Technology, the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science prepared activities for secondary school students interested in studying at our University. The events aimed to promote modern technologies and present current development directions in contemporary computer science.
One of the highlights was a workshop entitled “Areas of Interest in Eye Tracking”, conducted by a team consisting of: Dr. Karolina Rybak, Dr. Eng. Małgorzata Plechawska-Wójcik, Dr. Mariusz Dzieńkowski, M.Sc. Eng. Karol Łazaruk, and M.Sc. Eng. Piotr Tokarski.
During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with eye-tracking technology and learn about its applications in various fields of science and everyday life. The students took part in an experiment conducted using a stationary eye tracker, which allowed them to observe how eye activity is recorded in practice.
During the study sessions, eye movements were analyzed while participants performed selected logical tasks. They also had the opportunity to observe visual strategies used while solving a Rubik’s Cube. In addition, examples of eye-tracking applications in games supporting communication for individuals with developmental challenges were presented.
The workshop attracted strong interest from participants and provided an opportunity for direct contact with modern research equipment, as well as insight into the practical aspects of studying computer science at Lublin University of Technology.
