Department of Computer Science Invites an Outstanding Professor

The results of the competition of the Mayor of Lublin to support the development and internationalization of the Lublin academic center called “Visiting Professors in Lublin” – 5th edition have been announced (https://bip.lublin.eu/urzad-miasta-lublin/ogloszenia/konkursy/2025/wyniki-konkursu-visiting-professors-in-lublin-edycja-v,419,28808,2.html).

The competition aims to promote Lublin as a research and development center of international standing, create and strengthen the city’s image as an attractive, international educational center for Polish and international students, support the development of the teaching potential of Lublin’s universities and research institutes, strengthen international research cooperation, and provide city residents with the opportunity to meet outstanding representatives of the world of science and business.

Among the applications approved for funding (ranked second in the ranking list) was a project developed by a team of faculty from the Department of Computer Science: Małgorzata Plechawska-Wójcik, PhD, Eng., team leader; Marek Miłosz, PhD, Eng., professor at the university; Karol Łazaruk, MSc, Eng., and Piotr Tokarski, MSc. Eng. Six projects made the list of approved projects, out of 19 submitted to the competition.

The invited distinguished scientist is Professor Sergio Lujan-Mora from the University of Alicante, Spain (https://cvnet.cpd.ua.es/curriculum-breve/en/lujan-mora-sergio/7352). He specializes in human-computer interfaces, with particular emphasis on their accessibility and usability, and business intelligence systems. He conducts research on e-learning, open educational resources, and the application of artificial intelligence in human-computer interaction.

He is among the world’s leading scientists, with a Hirsh index of 24 in the Web of Science and a Scopus ranking of 32. His visit to Lublin, expected to take place in May 2026, will focus on the accessibility and usability of IT applications.
