Staff from the Department of Computer Science at the EAAAI 2026 conference in Crete

From 16 to 19 July 2026, the international conference 27th Engineering Applications and Advances of Artificial Intelligence (EAAAI 2026) took place in Chania, Crete (Greece). Lublin University of Technology was represented by staff of the Department of Computer Science, Karol Łazaruk, MSc Eng., and Piotr Tokarski, MSc Eng., who presented the results of their research. The conference continues the EANN series, which recently adopted a new name: EAAAI.

The event focused on engineering applications of artificial intelligence. The programme included topics such as neural networks, deep learning and reinforcement learning, natural language processing, multi-agent and adaptive systems, anomaly detection, and cybersecurity based on machine learning methods. Applications of AI in medicine and industrial systems also played a significant role.

During the conference, the Department of Computer Science staff presented two research papers addressing different aspects of artificial intelligence use.

Karol Łazaruk, MSc Eng., presented “Performance Analysis of AI Decision Models in Real-Time Interactive Systems,” a comparative study of AI decision-making models for real-time interactive applications.

Piotr Tokarski, MSc Eng., presented “Comparison of a Custom Artificial Intelligence Model with Classic Models in Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnosis,” which evaluates a purpose-built AI model against established approaches to support the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.

Both papers were published in the Springer series Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS), which is a significant scientific outcome of participation in the conference.

The trip was funded under the competition “Ego faciam tibi scientiam doctores,” carried out as part of the strategy “Lublin University of Technology – Scientifically Excellent” (project numbers: 17/EFD/2026/F and 19/EFD/2026/F).
