Interface Research at University of Alicante

At University of Alicante, a team from Department of Computer Science (from Interface Ergonomics Laboratory) conducted quality tests of mobile application interfaces as part of the project “Studying the Usability, Accessibility, and Cognitive Load of Mobile Educational Applications of a Medical Nature.” The project is funded by the Lublin University of Technology under the “Investing in Potential” programme.

The project is being carried out by a team consisting of Karol Łazaruk, M.Sc. Eng. (project leader), Dr. Małgorzata Plechawska-Wójcik, Prof. Dr. Marek Miłosz, and Piotr Tokarski, M.Sc. Eng. in collaboration with Professor Sergio Luján-Mora from the University of Alicante.

The research took place from December 16-20, 2025. The interfaces of three mobile educational applications for medicine were tested, with the participation of 16 students from the University of Alicante. A variety of research methods and techniques were used, including scenario-based user interaction, eye tracking, think-aloud analysis, and surveys. The collected data, combined with test data from Polish students, will be used to validate the previously developed multi-criteria methodology for assessing the quality of the interface of mobile medical applications – MAQMA (Multi-criteria Methodology for Assessing the Quality of the Interface of Mobile Medical Applications).
