BSc and MSc studies in Computer Science at IoCS

Institute of Computer Science offers three and a half years (seven semesters) graduate programme leading to an BSc degree and one and a half year (three semesters) leading to MSC degree in Computer Science.
Bachelor degree program is unified for all students. It covers basics of programming, internet application, software engineering including functional and non-functional requirements analysis, application design using business process modelling (BPM) diagrams, data flow diagrams (DFD), entity relationships diagrams (ERD) and textual description of application’s features. In the last year of the course students participate also in project activities focused on assignment of roles in a team, negotiating details of agreement with a client, developing project schedule and assigning tasks to each role, implementation issues and progress reporting. The bachelor degree program contain also mathematics and physics as well as typical engineering classes (such as electronics and metrology).
Master degree program students are already familiarized with programming technologies and techniques. They have got the knowledge about systems architecture issues, system integrations and quality. They also know how to prepare complete project documentation including system specification, detailed project schedule, test plans, deployment documentation and user manual. At MSc program more attention is devoted to application architecture, the efficiency of technology use, validation and code quality, usability of user interface. Students attends also in several project classes. Particular classes are adjusted to the one of study specializations. They are:

  • Software Development Technologies,
  • Internet Applications,
  • Exploitation of IT Systems,
  • Multimedia Systems and Applications,
  • Telecommunication Systems.

Team project activities are conducted in the last year of the course.
