International Seminar in Bioinformatics 2019. Appliance motion capture systems in medicine

On 6th of March 2019 at the Institute of Computer Science an international seminar „International Seminar in Bioinformatics 2019. Appliance motion capture systems in medicine” was organised. It concerned the application of the motion capture system, used to record three-dimensional motion and to perform quantitative analysis for various medical applications. The seminar was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the Lublin University of Technology, the Lublin Branch of the Polish Information Processing Society and the Director of the Institute of Rural Health in Lublin.

The seminar was opened by the Authorities of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology, in the persons of the Dean of the Faculty Professor Henryka Danuta Stryczewska, Associate Dean for student affairs in Computer Science, dr. Marek Miłosz and the Director of the Institute of Computer Science Professor Dariusz Czerwiński. The first part of the seminar took place in the Laboratory of Motion Analysis and Interface Ergonomics of the Institute of Computer Science. The elements of the system and the principles of its operation were presented, as well as the preparation the session and the recording of the participant movement.

Over 50 people from polish and foreign research centers attended the seminar. Scientists from the Medical University of Warsaw, the Institute of Rural Haelth in Lublin, the Medical University of Lublin, the authorities of the State Higher Vocational School in Chełm and employees of the Institute of Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology were participated in the seminar. Numerously foreign universities from Kazakhstan took part in the seminar (M. Kozybaev North Kazakhstan State University, Karaganda State Medical University, Atyrau State University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov, Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, West Kazakhstan State Medical University named after M. Ospanovi Astana Medical University). European Union countries were represented by Savonia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, University of Ljubljana  in Slovenia, Aga Khan University in UK and Lund University  in Sweden. The seminar guests were also representatives of the Academic Forum, the Copernicus Index and the AurisMed Medical Center from Warsaw, as well as the adviser to the Health Minister from Kazakhstan.

Two scientific sessions took place in the second part of the seminar. Eight very interesting lectures on the application of motion capture systems and computer science in medicine were given. After each of them came many questions and accurate suggestions for the authors. The seminar ended with an extensive exchange of knowledge and experience between research workers in the field of computer science and medicine.
